How to make your CAD models MBD ready?

Jan Stothfang, B&W Software

Time: 14:25 – 15:00, Day 1 (Parallel Session)

If it comes to MBD/MBE initiatives in your business, you will have to make sure that the process of authoring the documentation data in your CAD model is quick, easy and reproduceable. This can be done by providing directions and tools to the CAD model authors to enable them to do their tasks quickly and conscientious. This ranges from modelling guidelines to additional software tools that support the application and structure of the product manufacturing information in a intended format. Keeping this in mind it is essential to not simply reproduce processes from previous techniques on a 2D drawing, but to find alternate ideas and workflows to quickly, seamlessly and reliably provide data for downstream processes. In this session you will learn how SmartMBDTools for Creo will help to deal with new or already existing models within a MBD environment, how Combined States can be made more convenient and how a ‘Context’ can help with automation. Additionally, the ideas and benefits of color coding and the challenges of multi-language annotations are presented.
