ASME Model-Based Standards Activities

Fredric Constantino, ASME

Time: 11:25 – 12:00, Day 2

A lot of exciting activities and progress is being made with the development and modernization of ASME standards related to model-based activities. The Model-Based Enterprise (MBE) Standards Committee (establish in 2018) and the new MBE & Y14 Harmonization Committee are focused on modernizing current ASME standards to support the adoption and creation of model-based definition (MBD) and establishing guidance and capabilities around the creation and use of model-based datasets within a MBE. ASME also works closely with ISO TC 10 to harmonize digital product definition data and MBD content among ASME Y14.41, ASME Y14.47, and ISO 16792. The demand for implementing model-based initiatives is increasing across the industry, and so is the demand for providing industry standardization and guidance for the exchange of model-based information across the enterprise to harmonize people, processes, and tools. During this discussion, we will review the status and work activities happening within the MBE Standards Committee and the MBE & Y14 Harmonization Committee, and how to get involved as a guest or through free membership. It’s important to stay informed and actively engage in standards developments to maximize the return on your model-based investments.

About the Presentations

The presentations at the Nordic Model Based Enterprise Forum 2025 bring together real-world expertise, strategic insight, and hands-on experience from leading companies and organizations across industries. Each session is designed to demonstrate how Model Based Definition (MBD) is being implemented in practice — from engineering and quality assurance to manufacturing and enterprise-wide integration.

Speakers share success stories, lessons learned, and technical approaches that highlight both the benefits and the challenges of transitioning to a model-based workflow. These presentations provide attendees with the opportunity to explore tested strategies, innovative tools, and collaborative methods that are shaping the future of digital product development.

Whether you’re looking to understand the foundational value of MBD or explore advanced applications like CAM automation, metrology integration, or tolerance analysis, the sessions in this forum are curated to offer insight, inspiration, and actionable takeaways.
